I will be out most of the morning, but I have given the substitute all the materials you will need for class:

Seniors
You will be writing your essay in class. You'll need the book and ONE other source. You will construct an argument that considers the positives and negatives of "living better with robots."

Sophomores
You are reading The Rime of the Ancient Mariner in class. We will discuss the poem and homework on Thursday, and you can expect a quiz on Blake, Wordsworth, and Coleridge on Friday.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

What better way to spend Halloween than reading a story that begins with a beheading? For the next week or so, we'll be discussing Arthurian Literature, beginning with a look at " Sir Gawain and the Green Knight ," the anonymous tale of a test of courtly love, involving a supernatural green knight and a bet. For more information on the poem, read this introduction . I've also included a prose translation that you can compare with the verse translation we have in our book.

Homework

Seniors Your exam is on Thursday, and your final essay is on Friday. I'll talk more about the essay in class tomorrow. Also, the senior auction project lacks one more important detail - your memories! We will spend a bit of time tomorrow in class writing down some of your fondest memories of your senior year, and the rest of your time at RO.  Sophomores Read "Lines Composed a few miles above Tintern Abbey," and complete the questions at the end of the selection in your book. As always, please use complete sentences and cite frequently from the text.
