Seniors

Now that your "solutions" draft has been started, we can move on to the overall revision. The final draft is due on FRIDAY 9/20. Here is your schedule for the next week:
  • MONDAY - *ACT, Interview Letter & Annotated Bibliography (50 pts each)
  • TUESDAY - *ACT, Title Page with Abstract  (10 pts)
  • WEDNESDAY - *ACT
  • THURSDAY - Combined Draft Workshop (20 pts)
  • FRIDAY - *ACT
*ACT Prep next week will involve in-class assignments and optional homework assignments.

Your combined draft will consist of the following parts:
  1. Title page with 150-word single-spaced abstract at bottom
  2. All three completed essays - career, problem & solutions - merged with headings for each section, numbered in sequence (1500-2000 words total)
  3. Works cited page - the last page of your report, numbered in sequence, with annotations removed
  4. Hang on to all sources, as you will need to include them in your folder

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

What better way to spend Halloween than reading a story that begins with a beheading? For the next week or so, we'll be discussing Arthurian Literature, beginning with a look at " Sir Gawain and the Green Knight ," the anonymous tale of a test of courtly love, involving a supernatural green knight and a bet. For more information on the poem, read this introduction . I've also included a prose translation that you can compare with the verse translation we have in our book.

Homework

Seniors Your exam is on Thursday, and your final essay is on Friday. I'll talk more about the essay in class tomorrow. Also, the senior auction project lacks one more important detail - your memories! We will spend a bit of time tomorrow in class writing down some of your fondest memories of your senior year, and the rest of your time at RO.  Sophomores Read "Lines Composed a few miles above Tintern Abbey," and complete the questions at the end of the selection in your book. As always, please use complete sentences and cite frequently from the text.
