Work for Thursday 3/17 - Monday 3/21

Juniors
Finish reading Frankenstein! Many of you will be out of class on Thursday for track, but the rest can use that time to read. You will also be given a set of questions to help you review. These questions are due on Monday (you can turn them in early).

EXAM on Tuesday on the whole novel. The ASVAB is on Wednesday, and we will begin discussing topics for your papers on Thursday.

Seniors
I have made copies of a practice AP test for Honors and a practice ACT reading test for Non-Honors. Please complete and turn in on Friday.

On Friday, everyone will write an in-class essay based on the handout "Media and the Effects of Disasters." That essay is due at the end of class.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

What better way to spend Halloween than reading a story that begins with a beheading? For the next week or so, we'll be discussing Arthurian Literature, beginning with a look at " Sir Gawain and the Green Knight ," the anonymous tale of a test of courtly love, involving a supernatural green knight and a bet. For more information on the poem, read this introduction . I've also included a prose translation that you can compare with the verse translation we have in our book.

Homework

Seniors Your exam is on Thursday, and your final essay is on Friday. I'll talk more about the essay in class tomorrow. Also, the senior auction project lacks one more important detail - your memories! We will spend a bit of time tomorrow in class writing down some of your fondest memories of your senior year, and the rest of your time at RO.  Sophomores Read "Lines Composed a few miles above Tintern Abbey," and complete the questions at the end of the selection in your book. As always, please use complete sentences and cite frequently from the text.
